The roadmap is a view, not a second tool
Roadmap columns are statuses on your boards. Move a post to Planned and it appears on the roadmap; ship it and it moves again and can trigger a changelog entry. There is no separate list to keep in sync.
Choose columns you can honour
Now / Next / Later ages better than quarters because it communicates sequence without promising dates. If your customers demand dates, publish quarters but keep a visible caveat and update it when things move.
Control what is public
Any post can be marked internal-only, which keeps it in your planning view and off the public roadmap. Competitive work and acquisitions-driven items usually belong there.
- 1Open Roadmap, then Settings.
- 2Map each column to one or more board statuses.
- 3Toggle Public for the columns customers should see.
- 4Publish, then link the roadmap from your app's help menu.
